At a young age we are taught to stand up for what we believe in and do the right thing; however, people often neglect to tell you that those two things are HARD, complicated and flat out exhausting. We often only hear the success stories when someone accomplished this feat unless of course there is a book written about them or a media segment that goes into detail about the trials and tribulations that they have faced. No one tells you that there could be repercussions for standing up for what it is right. No one tells you that doing the right thing could possibly negatively impact you in the future. No one tells you that loyalties will be tested and you will soon find out who truly has your back and who doesn't. No one tells you about the emotional toll it takes on you an that you could get hurt in the process. I could continue to go on about what they don't teach us but I will leave you with this, at the end of the day all we can really do is look at ourselves in the mirror and ask, did we stand up for what was right? I know I did.
